CAFOD Group Achievements 2011-2012

The Cafod Group continues to have a vibrant role in the parish life of both churches.

 

During the last 12 months, thanks to your wonderful generosity, our fund raising efforts, in addition to the Fast day and Emergency appeals have raised an amazing £10,000 +.

 

The fund raising events have included:

• A Barbershop concert

• Cake bakes

• Monthly Fairtrade stalls

• Coffee Mornings

• Raffles

• Greeting card stall

• Weekly coffee after mass
  ?

The money we have donated has gone to help:

• children orphaned through AIDS

•  impoverished village communities access clean water

• emergency relief in East Africa

• provide a health clinic and health worker + bicycles

• amenities for a virtual village

 

Our Cafod activities have not only focused on raising money but also on the spiritual and community life of both churches. We are achieving this by:

• Giving talks during Mass

• Involving and working with the children and young people, encouraging their active participation in mass

• Highlighting Cafod’s support material for use in the children’s liturgy

• Organising and leading Lenten Stations of the Cross.

 

We have raised awareness in the parish of the Cafod Campaigns for Climate Justice and most recently “Thirst for Change”, Cafod’s campaign to ask world leaders to end water poverty by 2015.
